he LOVES his grandma so much!

Jamo was born Monday night and we came home Wednesday evening (when it was dark). This is us the next day coming home from his first checkup at the doctor. Our sister-in-law Anne made the beautiful 'welcome home' banner!

We made Jamison's name sign at a beach by our home (Lanikai Beach) and had it printed on stretched canvas.

ok, 2 pre-baby pictures:
Here we are at breakfast on Sunday (the day before Jamison was born!)
last picture of that big belly!

we originally saw this idea as the mom holding her belly and dad holding a watermelon, so we adapted it to October.

what are you DOING in there??

today, at 39 weeks, we're one week away from our son's due date and we know that he'll be born within the next 14 days (i'll be induced if i don't go into labor by november 1... so please make your grand entrance on your own, baby!). we're SO excited to meet our little guy!

Elliott is always asking baby boy, "what are you DOING in there?!" we do seriously wonder what he's up to in his belly home this last few weeks. he dances and kicks all the time still so we think he's pretty happy in my belly!

one of the things I do every day is walk. i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 29 weeks, and i wanted to avoid having to use insulin to control my blood glucose. finding out that I had to eat 6 small meals a day (while counting carbs) and walk after breakfast, lunch, and dinner (= take 3 showers every day) while poking my finger + testing my blood 4 times a day wasn't fun at first. however, I've known for a while now that it was certainly a blessing in disguise. granted, this blessing was very heavily disguised, but it's been a blessing regardless. eating small meals throughout the day has kept up my energy, and the walking has made SUCH a difference. i walk 45-60 minutes every day and this single thing has made me feel (luckily) great... which i didn't necessarily expect this late in pregnancy. yay!

lastly, i suppose the nesting is here. i wasn't sure if i'd recognize it, but i am creating projects and trying to reorganize already-organized things, in addition to cleaning. i also put together the bouncer, the swing, and the pack & play. (dork, i know) i've also been reading constantly (fiction and about birth), and my 2 favorite birth books are below.

this bookcase was 'gifted' to us a few years ago from my school and has always been a slightly ugly but usable piece of furniture... until now! i sanded the whole thing down, stained it, and then Elliott helped and did the clear coat. it now matches the pretty bookshelves in our sunroom :)

last week I learned it was National Dessert Day from my lovely friend Janel. i'll have to celebrate this a few weeks late :), but I wanted to make something special for Elliott, so I made these pumpkin pie cupcakes. he loved them and i sent him to work with a tray of them too!

these 2 books are fabulous. i highly recommend them to anyone having a baby.

maybe soon there will be pictures of our baby boy!!!

whoa October

our baby boy's birthday month is here! it seems like time has gone SO quickly! he's due on the 25th ... we'll see what day he wants to make his birthday :)

this is Tripler Army Medical Center, the hospital where we'll be delivering. it's huge and pink. we're taking our second childbirth class this week at Tripler (we took another one at the YMCA last month). it's definitely nice to learn from a nurse who works at Tripler and can give us advice about our birth day. also the classroom is "freezing" according to Elliott - which means it feels perfect to me!! :)

last week our friend Sarah took some pictures of Elliott and me at the beach, and Elliott took some as well. awesome evening + great photographers!

36 week belly at the beach

growing boy...

my sister Sarah gave us these adorable shoes for our little man!

he loves this baby so much and talks to him every night. baby boy is definitely going to know his daddy's voice right away

celebration dinner + Blue Angels

Two colleges, three states, and two years later, I've finished grad school! I just got the official word that I'm an August 2010 graduate and will receive my diploma in early November. My degree is a Master's in Education Leadership from Indiana University. Elliott took me to a special dinner this weekend to celebrate!

He's currently working on his MBA at the University of Hawaii, so at the end of next year, we'll have another degree to celebrate! Also, I'm way proud of my hubby for running his 25k on Saturday morning (about 15.5 miles). He finished in the top seventh of all runners!!

dinner on Saturday night at 'the beachhouse at the moana'

35 weeks!

on Sunday, we went to the Marine Corps Base for the Blue Angels airshow with our friends Tracey and Rahul. We think this baby might want to be a pilot... he was dancing on my ribs the whole time during the show!

here are two videos of the awesome (and a little scary) stunts:

kailua baby shower + 35 weeks

my amazing girlfriends here hosted a beautiful baby shower for baby H and me on Sunday at our friend Erin's home. we were outside and had delicious pupus, decorated onesies, opened some gifts, and had a wonderful time hanging out.
the girls gave us this diaper bag and lots of 'essentials' to go in it! our first pack of diapers (yes, we really need to stock up), wipes, burp clothes, a "hooter hider" (nursing cover), and a few other things. we also got a beautiful beach blanket, some baby socks and a few cute outfits!
I think that Tammy will be dressing baby H in this one quite often :)
Sarah made this Kailua boy onesie with an "eastside" symbol on the bum!
Sarah also made this pretty aloha one
Mina started out making a fruit salad onesie (??)
but decided instead to make this. haha!

Elliott had to take some pictures at the beach for a project yesterday, and he took a few of me in front of the Mokes. I know my (non-maternity) roxy tshirt doesn't quite cover the 35 week belly but i was comfortable! :)
