kailua baby shower + 35 weeks

my amazing girlfriends here hosted a beautiful baby shower for baby H and me on Sunday at our friend Erin's home. we were outside and had delicious pupus, decorated onesies, opened some gifts, and had a wonderful time hanging out.
the girls gave us this diaper bag and lots of 'essentials' to go in it! our first pack of diapers (yes, we really need to stock up), wipes, burp clothes, a "hooter hider" (nursing cover), and a few other things. we also got a beautiful beach blanket, some baby socks and a few cute outfits!
I think that Tammy will be dressing baby H in this one quite often :)
Sarah made this Kailua boy onesie with an "eastside" symbol on the bum!
Sarah also made this pretty aloha one
Mina started out making a fruit salad onesie (??)
but decided instead to make this. haha!
cute little slippers & Kailua boy from Heather
Heart sunrise over the Mokulua islands (here) by Erin. Erin + Harkaitz are expecting a little baby in January!
shooting star onesie by Mina
"life is tough" onesie by Tracey
aloha onesie by me :)

Elliott had to take some pictures at the beach for a project yesterday, and he took a few of me in front of the Mokes. I know my (non-maternity) roxy tshirt doesn't quite cover the 35 week belly but i was comfortable! :)

new (to us) car!

well, we became a little more grown-up this past week and bought a new-to-us car! The Jimmy has died several times and we've gotten it towed & fixed several times. It was becoming more and more unreliable ~ as in, it didn't start most of the the time. We had researched cars and knew that what we really wanted was a new or certified pre-owned Honda CRV. After searching the dealerships here and online, we came to the realization that Hawaii dealerships don't have 4-wheel-drive cars! No one here needs or wants a 4 wheel drive, so we were a bit stuck. We continued to call the dealership in town and when they got a CPO 4wd in, we went down right away to look at it. It's a little fancier than we needed but we got it for below the price we'd pay for a brand new in the lower model, so we were happy (and so is our budget). We got a 2007 cr-v, ex-l. It has a/c (yay!!), a sunroof, always starts :), and most importantly, is super safe for our little baby boy, who will be here in a few weeks!!

say aloha to the Jimster. here he is at
North Shore last year when Dad visited:

Elliott is going to be a movie star! the movie Battleship is filming here in Hawaii and Elliott was selected as an extra. his costars include Rihanna and Riggins from Friday Night Lights. he was on the news (click to watch) this summer in an interview about the movie as well!

north shore

elliott and I drove up to North Shore last weekend and stopped to take some pictures at Chinaman's Hat (also called Mokoli'i; it's the island behind us). some kayakers stopped and offered to take this :)

31 week belly
Elliott being artistic... good shot of our baby boy at chinaman's hat

we love the North Shore drive. it's beautiful, takes awhile, and you drive along the ocean almost the whole way!
we were stopped in traffic by Turtle Beach and elliott took this of me with my hippie scarf... good for keeping my hair out of my eyes in the jeep!

this is why we love the drive :)

while up at North Shore, we saw a tie dye stand ... which meant that Elliott wanted a new tie dye tshirt. we didn't have cash to stop there, but later that night, i convinced Elliott that we should get some white tshirts and dye and make our own! he indulged me and look how sweet his shirts turned out!
we also wanted to tie dye something for the baby, so here is our baby's first tie dye: a bassinet sheet. ha!

sarah + john get married ♥

during the first weekend in august, we all traveled down to alabama to celebrate Sarah and John's beautiful wedding!

John + Sarah's first dance

my nephew and niece, dylan & alynna = adorable ring bearer and flower girl

table settings, designed by Mom, Emma, and me

great groomsmen picture (elliott is 4th and Danny is 5th)

"clutch" moment of the evening ~ Elliott had the correct version of S+J's wedding song on his hard drive up at our lake house. he saved the day!

dad walking Sarah down the aisle. i love this picture.

this picture was taken in June, when us girls took Sarah out for a little bachelorette dinner!

El and me, taken at Larry and Rhonda's (John's parents) cookout the night before the wedding. good pic taken by Dad :)
Danny, Mom, Elliott, and Neil went jet-skiing on the lake on Friday. I wasn't allowed to go (apparently baby bumps and jet skis don't mix)... but Emma and I floated in the pool since it was over 100 degrees!

hoot hoot... baby boy's ΧΩ shower!

welcome to baby boy's shower hosted at the beautiful Detroy home.

Emma is guessing the baby's birth weight and time.
prizes are owl earrings and an owl ring :)

with Detroy + Bricker, my amazingly awesome hostesses

in college, Detroy headed up the 'banner committee.' we made all of our Chi O banners in the laundry room of our sorority house and therefore renamed it the "banner room." this is where the girls made adorable onesies for our little man!

this is me pretending i'll be totally in control of the birth time. i want to win the owl ring! :)

with my mom :) she'll be coming to hawaii a few days before our baby's due date!!

the chi o owl was well represented ~ this boy is the 1st chi o baby and he got lots of adorable owl gifts to welcome him! also, next to me is a growing pile of books ~ the theme was "stock the library" and our little guy got TONS of awesome children's books. we actually just got them all in the mail yesterday, and Elliott and I had a blast looking through each one.
thank you! xoxo

group picture (the moms were taking the pics). a big thank you to everyone who was able to come to the shower and to everyone else who sent such thoughtful gifts for our baby!

the food was, of course, pretty and creative... based on our sorority house food from college! "salad bar," mini corndogs, grilled cheese + tomato soup, jimmy john's sandwiches, and yummy cake.
the girls also gathered items for a time capsule for our little boy (for him to open when he's older, maybe 18). they had lots of pictures, Elliott's + my facebook pages printed, magazines, newspapers, an iTunes top 10 songs CD, a Justin Beiber poster, a Butler Bulldogs keychain, an Obama biography, and lots of other fun things to mark this year.
